Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) has joined the green movement with a new 613kW peak solar power system energizing Robinsons Place Iloilo. The project was achieved in partnership with Solenergy Systems Inc.
The system consists of 2,404 solar panel pieces mounted on the establishment’s rooftop, making it the largest grid-tied photovoltaic installation in Iloilo. It is rated to produce 815MWh of energy a year equating to a savings of PHP 1-million a month, all the while eliminating 490 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Components were sourced from Canadian Solar Inc. and Fronius International GmbH. Additionally, a Fronius monitoring system allows them to view real-time yield and system data online.
Present during the ceremonial launch was Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, commending the effort by saying “these types of projects complement our calls for promotion of renewable energy sources in the city.” JG Summit’s general manager for corporate energy Cesar Camaongay added that RLC is prioritizing rooftop solar projects due to the rising cost of electricity. Camaongay also acknowledged Solenergy’s timely construction of the system.
He added that RLC is currently commissioning solar rooftops for their establishments in Roxas, Dumaguete, and Antique. RLC is also studying which of their establishments will be getting the solar treatment next.
