The biggest screen in the Philippines is now LG’s 98-inch 4K UHD TV

LG Electronics is creating a buzz this Christmas by bringing in its premium 98-inch 4K Ultra High Definition TV, currently the biggest TV screen in the local market.

Announced in late November, (see related story here:, the actual unit is now at the newly-opened Abenson Store in Bonifacio Global City.

The LG UB98 has a gigantic 98-inch screen that is housed in a frame that is 5ft 2in tall (including the base), and 7ft wide. LG credits its superior IPS Panel technology with consistent image quality across all viewing angles, along with a stronger, more durable screen.

During the product presentation, I did my usual nose-to-screen test to see how much of the pixels I could see from up close, and I must say that while you could still see the “weave” of the image, the strands were definitely so fine as to be almost unnoticeable to the naked eye.

Aside from the immersive, cinematic viewing experience from the giant 4K UHD screen, the 5.2ch Harman/Kardon sliding speakers also delivered surround sound.

The LG 98-inch 4K UHD TV is also a smart TV, powered by its proprietary webOS. To make the user experience simple and intuitive, LG has designed the interface to be so easy even  a child could configure the TV. Paired with the Magic Remote that looks and feels like a game controller, accessing the various smart TV functions is an easy point and click, or scroll up/down, or even via voice commands.
