Ever wonder how you’d fare in the Zombie Apocalypse?

LifestyleBullet PointsEver wonder how you'd fare in the Zombie Apocalypse?

If you’re even remotely interested in firearms, chances are you’ve stopped to consider how you would do in the zombie apocalypse. There’s no shame in admitting it. That’s perfectly fine. If you watch any of the shows on the topic however, you might think it’s a lot easier than it actually might be, particularly when it comes to gun play.

In a show like The Walking Dead, Rick and the gang pull off headshot after headshot with apparent ease using pistols. If you’ve handled one before, however, you know that’s not the easiest thing to accomplish. Champion shooter Jerry Miculek takes on the zombie horde with a quick video using some of the weapons from TWD and the results are interesting.

Apart from performing as you would expect a champion shooter would, there’s an interesting bit that happens while he’s shooting the Colt Python in .357 Mag on the move. Under duress to perform, he reverts back to his training and nails the “zombie” target twice in the chest. The hits were flawless, but they weren’t what we are looking for in the zombie apocalypse.

Now, I’m not saying I could do better. I would more likely run out of ammo before finishing the course, but Mr. Miculek’s performance still brings something to light: No matter how mean you are with your weapons, you’re going to revert to your training. His two shots were textbook perfect, which is remarkable given that it was apparently the first time for him to shoot the Python, but he went for the chest, even though he knew he should be going for the head. This guy is a champion shooter.

So don’t think surviving the zombie apocalypse (or any encounter, for that matter) is going to be as easy as you imagine. You’re going to have to put in the training.
