Some of you might remember the revolutionary TCM 22 pistol by Armscor/Rock Island Armory. For those who don’t, it’s a pistol 40 grain projectile at upwards of 2000 FPS from a five inch barrel. We’ll let that sink in for a bit.

The round, which is more or less a shrunken down .223 Rem, has very similar case dimensions as the 9×19, and in fact, the base 1911 that Armscor created to fire the round has a 9mm kit with it, out of the box. What’s the next logical step, you might ask? Well, Rock island has just the answer: a Glock conversion kit. Sort of.

The kit, which is basically a new barrel, guide rod, and recoil spring, is meant to be used with the same 9mm magazine you have for your regular 9mm Gen 1-3 Glock 17 or 19. To make the round compatible with the magazine, Rock island engineers did have to shorten the TCM case a very tiny amount, necessitating a slight name change–the TCM 22 9R, but practically the same performance. It’s not quite available yet, and it’s anyone’s guess if it will make it here at all, but if it does, Glock fans have another nice problem to worry about.
