Nissan Philippines, together with the motoring media, has started the new year with a thanksgiving party to celebrate its positive performance in 2018.

Despite the challenges brought about by the 1st tranche of the new tax law implemented in the country last year, Nissan PH recorded a double-digit growth with a 40-percent increase translating to 34,952 units sold or 8.7-percent of the total market share.

With the tax exemption on pick-up trucks, the Navara drove the company’s growth which is approximately 46.2-percent of Nissan sales in the country. Together with the Navara, models that performed well are the Urvan, Almera, and Terra which contributed 19.5-percent, 17.5-percent, and 11.9-percent in sales, respectively.

Some of Nissan’s highlights for 2018 include its entry into the midsize SUV segment via the Nissan Terra, as well as the introduction of the special edition Terra S and Navara Warrior X, the electric vehicle LEAF, and the 370Z Nismo at the 7th Philippine International Motor Show. It also participated in government-stakeholders initiative events such as the 6th Philippine EV Summit in a bid to promote electric vehicles and a more sustainable motoring industry.

“To change the game, we have to stick to our fundamentals. With what we have achieved last year, we can now look forward to dreaming bigger for 2019,” said Ramesh Narasimhan, Nissan Philippines president and managing director.
