Peugeot showcased two motorsport Peugeot 208 vehicles—a T16 Pikes Peak-inspired 208 GTi, and a Targa Manila 208 GTi—at the 6th Philippine International Motor Show in Pasay.

The 208 T16 Pikes Peak hillclimb car that inspired the customized 208 GTi made its winning debut at the 2013 Pikes peak International Hillclimb in Colorado and was driven by champion French rally driver Sébastien Loeb.

The lightweight, 875-kilogram T16 has a 3.2-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine with 875bhp. At Pikes Peak, Loeb and the T16 broke the record hillclimb time of 9:46.164, and set a new record of only 8:13.878.

In line with the launch of TARGA Manila, a racing event which commences on September 24 at the Manila Polo Club, Peugeot also presented a customized TARGA Manila 208 GTi.

“We are very proud to be a sponsor and a participant in this event because it is our debut into the local motorsports scene,” Peugeot Marketing Director Karen Sales-Carvajal said.

24 racing teams will compete in the event, including eight 208 GTis.

Apart from the motorsport vehicles, Peugeot also put on display its fleet of cars including the 308 hatchback and station wagon variants which will be available for test drives throughout PIMS.
