Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMPC) has set its all-time best monthly performance this past October, recording an impressive 10,163 sold units. Year-to-date, TMPC has already exceeded their 2013 figures, with sales up by 41.92 percent for a total of 86,794 vehicles sold – a 45.2 percent market share in the country’s automotive scene.

TMPC has kept its hold on the Passenger Car Segment with 35,163 units shipped, numbers led by the Vios sedan and Wigo hatchback. Likewise, Toyota has experienced steady demand for its Commercial Vehicles, with year-to-date sales tallying to 51,629 transactions.

In a statement, TMPC President Michinobu Sugata expressed, “The continued robust economy has given us the momentum to achieve this sales milestone. Toyota has also foreseen the market demand to be strong before the long holidays and took action by ensuring supply of vehicles to meet the requirements of the consumers during this period.”

Sugata also added “…both the Toyota Vios and Innova continue to be the most important models in its line-up as this comprises close to 40 percent of TMPC’s sales. Therefore, if an acceptable auto road map can be in place soon, this will further boost demand for locally assembled vehicles and support motorization in the country.”

The automotive industry as a whole has vended 192,005 units year-to-date, a 30 percent increase over the same period last year. With the country’s gross domestic product reaching a high 6.4 percent, the country’s top car brands are expecting continuous market patronage until the year ends.
