Malaysian Startups Aim to Widen Networks in the Philippines

Launchgarage, the country’s first innovation hub, together with Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)  has launched a program that will give spotlight to Malaysian startup companies.

Named as Expand Philippines, the special program aims to drive the digital economy of Malaysia, helping them to promote their business and find local, regional and global partners. This includes connection with influencers, decision-makers, investors, and potential collaborators. Malaysian small-scale tech companies were also sent through several lectures and experienced on-site immersion in the Philippines.

Five startups were chosen to participate in the program. These includes the action-based instant routing lead management system SalesCandy, online content producer and provider SushiVid, robotics educational firm My Robot Time, multi-vendor e-commerce platform Avavaz, and digital patient experience management system CEMPIA. Each tech startups presented the overview of their business, and experessed their strong desire to tap Filipino partners that will further widen their reach in the ASEAN region.

Launchgarage was co-founded by Jay Fajardo,  a renowned entrepreneur, with Jojo Flores. Its goal is to further strengthen the tech and innovation industry both in the Philippines and Southeast Asia through establishing networks, and giving opportunities to tech SMEs.

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation or MDEC (formerly known as Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd.) is the lead agency in driving the digital economy in Malaysia under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia. Since its inception 22 years ago, MDEC’s mission is to develop the nation’s digital economy.
