With the recent reports of The New York Times, senior Apple executives had a meeting with the United States Food and Drug Administration on putting up medical mobile applications for Smartphones and other Apple products.

The Healthbook aims to monitor the health metrics of the user, such as blood pressure and heart rate. The app is speculated to be patterned after the iOS’ current passbook app – which keeps documents such as airline boarding passes, movie tickets, and gift cards organized. The release of the Healthbook app is more likely to be one of the major features of the upcoming iOS 8.

Reports of Apple coming up with a medical app are backed up with reports saying that the company is planning to release a smart watch – news of which coincided with Apple hiring several devices, fitness, and medical experts in the past few months.
