Brace your cash, PC gamers: the latest from Nvidia has been announced and it run circles around last generation’s lineup. The new GTX 1080 is built around the Pascal architecture anchored on a 16 nm FinFET process with 7.2 billion transistors paired to 8 GB of GDDR5X VRAM. The technological leap allows it to easily beat two 980s in SLI and even the already monstrous Titan X, all on a single 180 W 8-pin PCIe connection. Better yet, the improved efficiency allows it to overclock like a beast while maintaining relatively cool temperatures with the reference cooler. The shroud’s also been reworked to reflect the card’s drool-worthy capabilities.
