Xiaomi Announces the Mi Mix 2

TechnologySmartphones & TabletsXiaomi Announces the Mi Mix 2

Among the early adopters of the bezel-less design, and perhaps the phone that ushered in the the 2017 design trend, is the Xiaomi Mi Mix. Several bezel-less smartphones have been released since, and the trend is still at its fullforce. There’s just something about eliminating those bezels that taint smartphone designs.

Last September 11, the beast that started it all made a return. With just less than a year since the Mi Mix release, the sequel has already been announced. Just a day before Apple announces its rumoured iPhone 8, Xiaomi  revealed to us the Mi Mix 2, its newest flagship phone.

As Xiaomi’s flagship phone, the Mi Mix 2 features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM, up to 256Gb of storage, and a massive 3,400mAh battery. Merging utility with design is the phone’s  ceramic back design and a neat aluminum finish for its frame. For photo and video capture, it sports a 12-megapixel, f/2.0 camera that’s complemented with optical image stabilization. Powering it is the MIUI 9, that’s based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The 2017 design trend speaks of it all. Phones simply look better with preserved sizes, and bigger screen real estates. With  phone after phone being released with close to non-existent bezels, it’s easy to see where we’re eventually heading.  The original Mi Mix screen featured an impressive 90-percent screen-to-body ratio. Following the trend, we saw Samsung pull of a screen-to-body ratio of 83-percent, while that of LG’s flagship, the LG G6,  80-percent. A common trend shows that we’re heading in the direction of truly bezel-less phones. The iPhone 8 is just days away from its announcement, and we’re just as excited on what they’ll have to offer. For now, we have the beautiful Mi Mix 2 spectacle with a 91.3-percent screen-to-body ratio. Less bezels, and more screen is the way to go!
