If you’re one of the many Filipinos exasperated at having to wait for lives to fill up in puzzle games, one popular candy-themed game in particular, wait no more. SundayToz’s Anipang for Kakao is here to relieve you from all the frustration.
Korea’s addicting puzzle game, SundayToz’s Anipang for Kakao, is climbing up the Philippine charts, ranking among the top downloaded games in various app stores.
A major player in Anipang’s appeal is it allows the user to send (and receive) Hearts to their KakaoTalk friends. The exchange of Heart messages emerged as a huge cultural phenomenon among players since the game made its debut. Hearts function as play tokens within the game, which makes it highly interactive and social.
“Kakao Game is one of the successful aspects of KakaoTalk’s various social platform services, with around 520 million subscribers worldwide,” said Jean Lee, head of Kakao Philippines. “The key reason for its popularity is the fact that you can compete and compare scores with other KakaoTalk users, making it a very social, connective experience. Anipang is certainly a great example of this, and we’re glad Filipinos are embracing this great game,” Lee added.
At that, the game was featured in an episode of the reality show Pinoy Big Brother All In. In the episode, housemates went head to head with their eliminated peers in a heated game of Anipang for Kakao. The winners of the game received limited edition character items.
Anipang is a chartbuster in Korea with more than 30 million downloads, approximately 80 percent of the country’s smartphone count. Also, Korea’s top stars and trend-setters, Lee Byung-Hun, G-Dragon of Big Bang, TVXQ, and Girls’ Generation to name a few, have expressed their love for Anipang and its adorable characters.
To play Anipang—available on iOS and Android–you must log in or create a KakaoTalk account.
