BMW keeps on outdoing itself, this time setting another standard for the luxury vehicle niche with their newest addition to the X Family, the BMW X4. Tracing its roots to the sports activity coupé concept debuted through the BMW X6, the X4 combines the practicality of a sports activity vehicle with the finesse of a classic coupé.

The X4 comes in two variants, both with diesel engine centerpieces. There’s the X4 xDrive 20d which sports a 2.0L engine capable of up to 190hp and 400Nm of torque with a promised fuel mileage of 5.2L/100km. The xDrive 30d, meanwhile, has a 3.0L engine producing up to 258hp and 560Nm of torque with an assured fuel efficiency of 5.9L/100km.

Helping the engines achieve such economy are various technologies which lessen fuel consumption and harmful emissions while retaining the same level of performance, namely BMW’s EfficientDynamics; Auto Start/Stop Function; Break Energy Regeneration; and ECO PRO mode.

On the exterior, the X4 presents large front air intakes and BMW’s signature bi-xenon headlights, all harmonized by precise character lines. The vehicle measures 4,671mm in length and is 14mm longer and 36mm closer to the earth than the X3. Its roofline is highest over the driver’s head and gently slopes down towards the back.

The latest X nameplate is as sporty and as classy inside as it is outside. It’s decorated with high-quality materials, subtle electroplated marks, high-gloss black panel look, and aluminum accents in the wood panelling. Adding to the premium feeling are the 5-seats which are positioned 20 to 28mm lower than the X4’s predecessor.

Finally, the xDrive 30d comes in an M Sport Package option which improves upon the already sleek appearance of regular X4s with an individual high-gloss shadow line. Inside the M Sport are sports seats with leather upholstery, a BMW individual roof liner in Anthracite, M door sill finishers, and an M leather steering wheel. Rounding up its looks are 19-inch light-alloy wheels.

Locally, the X4 xDrive 30d is priced at PHP 4.790 million, while the M Sport Package edition is pegged at PHP 5.990 million.
