Bank of the Philippines Islands and the Philippine Basketball Association are bringing overseas Filipinos closer to home, albeit in spirit, by holding official PBA games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates this May.

The games, dubbed PBA in Dubai, are part of the PBA Governors’ Cup series and will be held on May 21 and May 22. The last official PBA games in Dubai were held three years ago.

Filipinos are avid fans of the sport, and BPI is grateful for this opportunity to bring cheer to compatriots abroad through Filipino basketball. “We are pleased to host this event together with PBA, bringing a day of fun and excitement for the Filipino community in the UAE,” says Jerry Gerard A. Felipe, managing director of BPI’s representative office in Dubai. “This partnership gives us another chance to connect with our kababayan.”

Staff of the Dubai representative office will be present during the games for those who want to consult and get some financial advice on remittance and other banking needs.

PBA in Dubai features Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, and GlobalPort Batang Pier. On May 21, Rain or Shine will play against GlobalPort; on the 22nd, the two games playing are Ginebra and Rain or Shine. Exclusive meet-and-greet sessions with players from the three teams will be held for select BPI clients in Dubai on May 19 and 20.

Established in 2011, the BPI representative office in Dubai is located at Shop No. 1 Al Mankhool Road, Al Hudaiba, Dubai, located near the Satwa round-about. Operating hours are from 10 am to 8 pm, Saturday through Thursday.
