Recently, Cherry Mobile in collaboration with their brand ambassador Anne Curtis worked on an “Adopt-a-School” project as further step in the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“Adopt-a-School” is a project of DepEd aiming to foster the value of education and encourage the private sector to support the improvement of public school facilities, creating a more conducive learning environment for the Filipino youth.

In support of this worthy cause, Cherry Mobile and Anne Curtis participated in two public schools in Quezon City: San Antonio Elementary School and General Roxas Elementary School. Anne personally handpicked both schools, which became the beneficiaries of newly constructed and fully furnished kindergarten classrooms.

Government agencies DENR, PAGCOR and TESDA also showed commendable support by bringing in additional armchairs.

A joint cause in strenghtening education

On August 27, the turnover ceremony of the aforementioned project took place with members from the Cherry Mobile Management Committee and Anne in attendance. Also present during the event were DENR Undersecretary Demetrio Ignacio Jr., PAGCOR Assistant Vice President Henry Reyes, TESDA Director General Emmanuel Joel Villanueva, and DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro.

“Anne and Cherry Mobile both recognize the value of education, so we are more than happy to support her in this relevant endeavor,” said Cherry Mobile Brand Alliance Manager Agnes Conopio at the turnover ceremony.

“Kids are very close to my heart, and I thank Cherry Mobile for supporting my cause. I want to help these kids get a good education; who knows, I might even become their teacher someday,” said Anne, who despite having a very hectic schedule extended her passion in promoting education through taking online teaching courses on the side.

    A company that cares

From 2011, Cherry Mobile has been actively engaged in corporate social responsibility projects supporting the same cause, among others. “More than just a brand, Cherry Mobile is dedicated in giving back and engaging in projects for positive change,” expressed Ms. Leah Lopez, CSR Manager for Cherry Mobile.

Apart from the involvement in the Adopt-A-School project with Anne, the company also participated in Brigada Eskwela 2013, sending volunteer employees who took time off work to clean and repaint classrooms at the Philippine National School for the Deaf (PSD); and initiating a library project with Tinajeros Elementary School in Malabon.

Furthermore, last May, Cherry Mobile also donated approximately 20,000 study kits to various public elementary schools nationwide as part of their “Be Cool in School” campaign.
