Globe Telecom president and CEO Ernest Cu has yet again claimed a spot on the Global Telecom Business Power 100 for 2014. Power 100 is the magazine’s annual list of the most powerful people in the telco world.

Ernest Cu is the sole Filipino executive to receive the recognition this year. Now on a 2-year streak, Cu made it to number 64, which is two notches higher than his previous ranking in 2013. “The business gains we have achieved over the past several years by positioning Globe as a challenger brand proves that the company is now a trusted brand recognized globally. We will continue to take on the challenge of constantly innovating products and services to provide the easiest and fastest means for our customers to communicate,” Cu said.

According to Global Telecoms Business, Globe has emerged as one of the best service providers in the Philippine telecommunications industry. Under Cu’s leadership since 2008, the telco has undergone transformations after another. It boasts of a modernized network and IT infrastructures, which are all supported by a service-oriented culture. This is to deliver a superior customer experience, anchored on Cu’s primary advocacy: customer first.

Notably, the premier magazine also stated that Globe has gained over 10 percentage points in wireless revenue share, while trailblazing game-changing customer-focused innovations, free Facebook at that.

Most importantly, employees are motivated by Cu’s vision, manifested in an increase of more than 4 percentage points in their employee satisfaction index (ESI) from 2009 to 2013.

Globe Telecom’s total mobile subscriber base reached a record high of 45 million at the end of June this year. The company also ended the first half of the year with record-level revenues of PHP 47.7 billion, a 7 percent rise from 2013.

The magazine hailed Mark Zuckerberg, chairman and CEO of Facebook, as the most powerful person in the telecommunications industry worldwide.
