Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has introduced a new variant of their best-selling subcompact sedan, the Honda City. Dubbed as the Honda City E Navi+, these are equipped with a new Audio-Visual Navigation (AVN) system and retails for PHP 816,000 for the manual transmission, and PHP 856,000 for the continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The AVN system takes the form of a 7-inch VGA touch screen sporting built-in Garmin navigation and 3D map viewing. It features driver-friendly knickknacks to make getting around easier such as Expressway Exit Guide, route information view, and Lane Assist with Photoreal Junction View for safe crossings at intersections. Three years of free map updates are bundled with the AVN system, done through any authorized Honda dealership during the Honda City’s preventive maintenance service schedule.Garmin Navi

The AVN system also doubles as an in-vehicle entertainment system. It supports various audio and video inputs including DVD, USB, iPod, and Bluetooth. Hands-free telephony is also possible with most Bluetooth-paired smartphones.

Besides the City E Navi+, VX and VX+ variants are also available for the Honda City. These sport a 7-inch touch display with hands-free phone, multimedia, and voice recognition functions, along with USB, auxiliary, and HDMI ports.Sygic Navi

To supply the VX and VX+ with GPS-like features, Honda has enlisted the help of navigation software developer Sygic to integrate a smartphone’s navigation app into the vehicle’s display. To do so, the following requirements must be met:

  • A Honda nameplate with display audio (City VX and VX+; Jazz VX and VX+; Civic 1.8 E Modulo; 2.0 EL MUGEN)
  • iPhone 5, 5s and up, iOS 7 1.2 and later
  • Smartphone Connection app free from Honda
  • Purchased Sygic car navigation app
  • HDMI cable for mirroring phone screen to vehicle display
  • USB cable for charging the phone
  • Apple Lighting Digital AV Adapter

Having all the above enables drivers to enjoy the comforts of their phone’s GPS while keeping their eyes on the road.
