    Over the past seven weeks, the app catalog for the BlackBerry 10 platform has grown by more than 30,000 applications, generating a total of more than 100,000 apps that are currently available.

    Currently, BlackBerry 10 users already have access to common apps such as FacebookFoursquareTwitter8tracksAngry Birds Star WarsJetpack JoyrideKeekLinkedInNeed for SpeedThe New York Times and WhatsApp. Recently, Amazon Kindle, OpenTable and The Wall Street Jorunal apps have also been added to the catalog for download or for purchase. The company claims that CNN, The Daily Show Headlines, eBay, eMusic, Maxim, MLB at Bat, MTV News, Pageonce, PGA, Rdio, Skype, Soundhound and Viber apps will also be made available to the platform in the coming weeks.

    “The response to the BlackBerry 10 platform and applications has been outstanding. Customers are thrilled with the applications already available, and the catalog just keeps growing, now with more than 100,000 apps,” said Martyn Mallick, Vice President, Global Alliances at BlackBerry. John Jackson, Research Vice President, Mobile & Connected Platforms at IDC added, “It now appears that the already impressive levels of developer support for the BlackBerry 10 platform are accelerating into the launch window for the BlackBerry Z10. The prospect of a very robust app catalog can only bolster momentum for the product and the platform itself.”

    BlackBerry 10 debuts in the BlackBerry Z10, the company’s first full touchscreen smartphone, which retails locally at PHP 29,990.
