Samsung Philippines officially launched their latest S6 and S6 Edge flagships last April 17, 2015 at the SM Megamall Fashion Hall in an event that saw gems, glass sculptures, and fashion pieces from the country’s top artists paraded with the newest Galaxy smartphones along an S-shaped runway. In attendance were the ambassadors and members of the Fashion and Design Council of the Philippines (FDCP), sculptor Ramon Orlina, jeweller Marilou Co, and of course, Samsung’s executives.

The glassworks by Orlina as well as the haute couture designs from the FDCP all took on the colors of the S6 and S6 edge, namely blue topaz, white pearl, green emerald, gold platinum, and black sapphire. Additionally, Co also revealed sixty special custom-made phone cases for the S6 Edge, each peppered with diamonds, and 18K white and yellow gold

    Brand Ambassadors
Samsung also introduced their newest brand ambassadors, Georgina Wilson and Solenn Heussaff.

“Samsung once again proves that its first-of-its kind mobile technologies could cut across diverse industries including the fashion scene. The new Galaxy smartphones paved the way for new and unique creations that bring out the best in art and design,” said Digs Dimagiba, Samsung Philippines’ business unit head for IT and mobile business. “Tonight, we celebrate the ultimate smartphone experience through the unveiling of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge by highlighting and celebrating world-class Filipino artistry.”

The S6 looks premium and sleek with its all-metal and glass body.

The S6 and S6 Edge arrive with sleek, 6.8mm/7.0mm thin, all-metal bodies thin protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Weighing in at 138g/132g light, the flagships boast a 64-bit octa-core processor paired with 3GB RAM, 5.1-inch quad HD Super AMOLED display, 16MP and 5MP snappers with f1.9 lenses, and 2550/2600mAh battery packs. They’re also dual SIM and LTE ready.

The S6 Edge feels really nice in the hand. You can thank the dual curved edges for that.

Some of the devices’ features include: Auto HDR, OIS, white balance, and 0.7-fast Quick Launch for the camera; wireless charging with any WPC and PMA-compliant pads; fast wired charging providing 4 hours of uptime for only a 10-minute plug; a brighter display; Samsung’s Knox and Find My Mobile software for added user security. The S6 Edge of course has the dual edge design for easier handling and more visible notifications.
