Sophos Introduces Deep Learning Technology to Defend Current Malware Threats

This year, Sophos takes a big leap in the IT industry.

The UK-based provider of cybersecurity solutions presents its newest innovation in fighting malicious malware threats at a global scale. Known as Intercept X, the deep learning-powered system basically helps IT managers to detect problems faster and smarter by providing the latest cybersecurity patches, updates, and solutions in just one tap. It will be incorporated to the company’s Synchronized Security Platform which is the Sophos’ management console for medium and large enterprises. It also claims to recognize and categorize exploits and vulnerabilities automatically. Specifically targeted for the mid-market organizations, the complete cloud-enabled security offering focuses on protecting endpoint and as well as various networks that hold confidential assets and data of a company.

Sophos has adapted the deep learning technology from its recently acquired company, Invincea, which pioneered the usage of machine learning through its antivirus program. It is the latest subsidiary of Sophos next to the German firm Ataro and India-based Cyberoam.

According to the Sophos’ Managing Director for ASEAN and Korea Sumit Bansal, malware threats are rapidly growing through the years. Based on the firm’s research arm Sophos Labs, United States garnered the highest percentage of cybersecurity attacks (17.2%). United Kingdom claimed the second spot at 11% while Belgium followed with a rate of 8.6%. In Asia Pacific region, about 6.5% of threats have been reported on Singapore despite of being a progressive country. It was then followed by India (4.8%), Malaysia (2.7%) and Taiwan (2.4%). Meanwhile, the Philippines has a penetration scale of 1.9%. Among these numerous cyber-attacks, about 75% of malware are targeted to business entities.

With the data breach happened to Commission on Elections last year, cybersecurity has become a matter of urgency. Sophos responds to this call by reaching and helping out different sectors in the country to fight against cyber criminals through their holistic and multi-layered softwares and services.

Customers should look forward to this newest frontier in security on January 2018.
