    The Levi’s Commuter x Jacquard by Google is set to be the first piece of clothing to make use of the Jacquard technology from Google’s ATAP Research and Development division, to be released in the fall of this year.

    According to the project’s website, Jacquard weaves touch and gesture sensitivity into any piece of textile using regular industrial looms. This allows clothing and furniture to become interactive surfaces, responding to certain commands.

    The process combines thin conductive alloy with yarns like cotton or polyester to create yarn that allows energy to pass through; tiny electronic components are embedded discreetly within the cloth which wirelessly transmits data to smart devices.

    The Levi’s Commuter jacket will allow the wearer to receive directions to destinations, connect to nearby places, manage communication, and even change music.
