    Competitive gamers gathered at the VMall Exhibit Area last Friday and Saturday as Übertech Philippines, a premier distributor of PC hardware, hosted its first ever action-packed gaming tournament, Gaming Overload.

    Participants battled against each other for the top spot in three of the most popular PC games today. The first day of the tournament featured the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 division and NBA 2k12. The second day featured a friendly round of NBA 2k12 and the Street Fighter x Tekken tournament division.

    The winners for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were Team FXE, composed of Jacky Chan, Eleine Joyce Javier, Juan Lim, and Firdausi Mulsid. Team UDTxSE, composed of Christian Hizon, Dan Gutierrez, Emmanuel Capalad and Benson Sta. Ana, ranked second place.

    The winners for the NBA 2k12 division were Renzo Pacquing (3rd place), Kevin De Leon (2nd place) and Rold Michael Cornejo (champion). For Street Fighter x Tekken, the winners were James Patrick Markle (3rd place), Tonton Jagolino (2nd place) and Mark Frianeza (champion).

    All first placers got to take home a motherboard from Gigabyte and free original copies of their respective games. Second and third placers got to take home USB flash drives and backpacks from the event sponsors–namely, AMD, Sapphire, Gigabyte, Cougar and Roccat. Lootbags containing Gigabyte lanyards, sports bottles, shirts from AMD and back issues of Gadgets Magazine were given to all the participants.

    Members of the online fighting game community Team X-Over served as marshals for the games. The two-day event was streamed online  on TwitchTV by Jason Conanan and Edsel Volante.
