MANILA – FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, celebrated International Walk to School Month (IWTSM) with Safe Kids Philippines at Timoteo Paez Elementary School in Pasay.  As part of the 2017 program, FedEx and SWKP joined students from Timoteo Paez and Marcelo Marcela elementary schools in Pasay in an advocacy walk.

“According to the Philippine Statistics Agency, deaths due to road traffic crashes have been steadily increasing since 2006, and without sustained action, it’s likely that this trajectory will continue,” said John Peterson, FedEx Express managing director for Philippines.  “It is an alarming statistic, and this is one of the reasons why FedEx is passionate about supporting road safety programs.”

The IWTSM is part of FedEx and SKWP’s Walk This Way (WTW) program which aims to raise awareness of child pedestrian safety.  Since its launch in 2004, the program has reached more than 1.7 million students across 102 schools in key cities in the Philippines.
