    LifestyleFoodRestaurant Review: Yakimix

Christmas is one of the most celebrated holidays in the world. In the Philippines, this season spells malls that are filled to the brim with customers looking to buy gifts for their families and friends; familial and barkada reunions; and of course, lots and lots of sumptuous feasts. Forget your diet and ready your spoons and forks because this issue, we go big with Eat-All-You-Can buffets.

    Yakimix

Yakimix is an eat-all-you-can sushi and smokeless grill restaurant that offers Japanese, Korean, and Chinese cuisine. It is owned by the same company who runs Buffet 101. Its first branch, built in 2009, is located at Macapagal Ave., Pasay City. Currently, there are 13 Yakimix branches you can visit nationwide.

Experience: Having dined at Yakimix, I can say that this restaurant offers one of the best self-service buffet experiences. The staff are very attentive and looks after the customers well. When they see that a buffet chafer is running low on grub, they quickly re-stock for diners to get a fresh bite of every dish.

I got to taste in-demand viands such as tempura, pork belly, green mango with shrimp paste, sashimi, shrimp, and squid, which are dishes that almost always are first to be out in most buffet restaurants. Additionally, I was glad with the varied selection of meat available for grilling. Among my favorites were the pork belly, shrimp, and squid. The quality of the meat was top class and the flavors it delivered to my palate were delightful. This is the first buffet where I encountered a green mango with shrimp paste selection, and I must say kept me wanting for more.

Apart from the quality selection of meat and friendly servers, the buffet also offers different types of sushi and sashimi at its best quality. I have to note that the lightly buttered tempura and california maki are to die for. My dining experience at Yakimix is definitely one for the books. Now, I understand why many people choose to celebrate momentous occasions here.

Writer’s tip: There’s no need to rush to get a portion of all the dishes. The waiters are on stand-by and are ready to replenish them.
