Isuzu Philippines Corporation successfully concluded its annual Isuzu Service Skills Olympics (ISSO) held at its compound in Binan, Laguna last June 1 and 2.
On the 13th edition of the ISSO, 24 participating dealers — including three new dealers Isuzu Cebu, Batangas City, and Sta. Rosa — entered their best Parts and Service personnel to compete in this year’s three categories, Service Technician, Service Advisor, and Parts Analyst. The competitions were divided into two parts, the written and practical tests.
At the end of the competitions on June 2, the winners for the categories coming from Isuzu dealerships from across the Philippines were announced. They were: For the Service Technician category — Jonathan Mediona and Arniel John Alom of Isuzu Davao (2nd runner up); Crispin Maldonado and Jumar Verano of Isuzu Pasig (1st runner up); Ahrjay Pulvera and Reynaldo Gepulle of Isuzu Alabang (champion).
For the Service Advisor category — Dyrenerose Benecio of Isuzu Pasig (2nd runner up); Jorussel Reyes of Isuzu Cabanatuan (1st runner up); Julius Caesar Opaco of Isuzu Mandaue (champion). For the Parts Analyst category — Christopher Garcia of Isuzu Cabanatuan (2nd runner up); John Louie Carlos of Isuzu Pasig (1st runner up); Joana Zorilla of Isuzu Pampanga (champion).
For this year’s ISSO, IPC also handed out special awards for the Best in Written Exam for each category. The winners here were: For the Service Technician category, Crispin Maldonado of Isuzu Pasig; for the Service Advisor category, Jorussel Reyes of Isuzu Cabanatuan, and; for the Parts Analyst category, Joana Zorilla of Isuzu Pampanga.
After all results of the participating crews were tallied, and their combined efforts in all categories factored in, Isuzu Pasig emerged as the Dealer Grand Champion.
The annual ISSO, now on its 13th year, recognizes the importance of the key dealer Parts and Service personnel, namely the service advisor, service technician, and parts personnel in providing quality service and customer satisfaction, and improves the theoretical and technical skills of these key personnel.
The ISSO also serves as the main platform where IPC will develop two teams to represent the Philippines in the upcoming 2018 Isuzu World Technical Competition to be held in Thailand on September 12, 2018 (for the light commercial vehicle or LCV category) and in Japan on December 6, 2018 (for the commercial vehicle or CV category).
Since 2015, IPC has consistently placed 5th or higher in the Isuzu World Technical Competition, and a large part of its success has been attributed to the high level of competition at the ISSO, apart from the professional dedication and discipline the Isuzu dealers’ Parts and Service personnel pour into their daily work.
The Philippine Team landed 5th in the CV Category B in 2017, 3rd in the CV Category in 2016, 2nd place in the LCV Category in 2015 and 2016, and champions in the CV Category in 2015.
