Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), Hyundai’s official Philippine distributor, is looking to finish the year strong as it recorded a 13-percent quarter-on-quarter improvement last July to September.

But while HARI managed to deliver 608 more orders over their 5,325 Q2 figures, year-to-date sales hit a few road bumps at 16,703 units, 6-percent less than the 17,693 vehicles shipped last year.

Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, HARI president and CEO, remains optimistic after the fact, saying “With the holiday season fast approaching, Hyundai is strengthened to delight the Filipino market with unwavering customer service on top of a product line-up tailor fit to their changing lifestyle amid the heightened competition in the automotive arena.”

The passenger car category experienced a 24-percent boost to 4,283 units during Q3 versus Q2’s 3,458 units, with the Eon and Accent models leading the way for Hyundai. In contrast, the light commercial vehicles segment fell to 1,731 units last quarter, 7-percent worse than Q2’s 1,867.

Year-over-year, the sale of passenger cars slowed down a little by 3-percent, while light commercial vehicles actually went up by 7-percent from July to September.
