    Roadtrip: Playa La Caleta

    MobilityTravelRoadtrip: Playa La Caleta

We travel to break away from the routine. But we won’t get to fully enjoy the experience unless we disconnect. Fortunately in the Philippines, places like those are anything but few and far between. Playa La Caleta, a private cove in Matikis, Morong Bataan, offers just the escapade and digital detox you crave.

Playa La Caleta (PLC), which is Spanish for beach cove, is a 100-hectare eco-tourism resort that opened in 2016. PLC takes pride in its 1-kilometer white sand beach, a forest trail, three waterfalls, and a stunning islet a quick trek- or a 10-minute boat ride away from the main beach area.

As an ecotourism resort, throughout the year, PLC organizes beach cleanups as well as activities which contribute to the preservation of nature. The waters at PLC glisten in the sun, with a thriving aqua diversity–a confirmation of the resort’s cleanliness. Visitors can enjoy this wonder of nature by taking a dip in its shallow clear waters, or availing of water activities such as kayaking and paddle boarding. For guests whose ideal recreation doesn’t involve getting in the water, lounge areas are spread across the beachfront complete with books and board games readily available.

For the adventurous, PLC has a ginormous 75 feet water slide, a hiking trail, and an adrenaline-inducing cliff jumping area at Miguelito island. At night, guests also have the option to rent out tents or stay at their open cottages to enjoy the beach’s nightscape and be truly one with nature.

Rounding out the tropical getaway experience is PLCs Scarborough restaurant, Shark bar, and Coconut cafe that serve tasty meals and refreshing beverages to guests.

Playa La Caleta is just a 15-minute boat ride from the La Salle boat port in Bagac for PHP 900 for six persons.
