A year into its expansion, Lenovo is picking up on the momentum built by its innovative and versatile ThinkPad X1 portfolio by introducing enhanced products that offer users the best possible personalized computing experience.

Lenovo introduced its next generation ThinkPad X1 devices at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. And, at the forefront of it all is the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

The fifth-generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a perfect representation of the line’s commitment to embrace the needs of the evolving workforce and workplace.

The new iteration of this beloved notebook is much more compact and built for on-the-go productivity than its older siblings. Lenovo claims that it is the lightest notebook in its class at under 2.5 pounds (1.14kg) and also the smallest. It comes fitted with a high quality 14-inch IPS and is built to be thin and light. A full complement of ports, infrared camera, connectivity and security ensure the X1 Carbon delivers maximum performance on all fronts.

The X1 Carbon promises a better typing experience and comfort with its six-row ThinkPad keyboard with an improved Microsoft Precision Touchpad (with physical buttons) and iconic TrackPoint.

On the outside is a familiar device, but what it offers under the hood is a whole new ballgame. Improvements incorporated into the X1 Carbon include:

    • Up to 15.5-hour battery life
    • Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A Wireless WAN and WI-FI CERTIFIED WiGig
    • Thunderbolt 3 ports
    • Expanded docking solutions with new Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C docks.

ThinkPad X1 Carbon is more secure than ever with multi-factor authentication improvements such as:

    • Enhanced biometric authentication via IR camera with face recognition support for Windows Hello logon.
    • Match-on-Chip touch fingerprint
    • Supports FIDO-enabled biometric authentication for PayPal

Available in classic ThinkPad black and a new silver color, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon will be available from February 2017, starting at USD 1,349.
