    Xiaomi is officially back in the Philippines, and it has the much anticipated Redmi 5A and Redmi 5 Plus in tow.

    Redmi 5A

    Dubbed “the entry-level smartphone king,” the Redmi 5A has features that make it worthy of the throne. It has a plastic body with a metallic matte finish, giving it a premium feel. Its front is occupied by a 5-inch HD display and an f/2.0 5 MP camera above. Adding firepower into the device is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor that works alongside 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM–expandable via its microSD slot (a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM version will also available). Among the highlights of the Redmi 5A is its 13 MP rear camera. Its rear sensor has Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and f/2.2 aperture built in for photos that won’t disappoint.     The device will be available on the official Lazada Mi Store starting 15 March 2018 with a promotional launch price of PHP 4,390. It can also be purchased via Shopee and authorized Mi stores at PHP 4,590.

    The Redmi 5 Plus comes with a Full HD+, 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 resolution, immersing you in quality content whenever, wherever. Framing its gorgeous display is a metal body housing control buttons, a fingerprint scanner on its back, 12 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 5 MP front camera with LED selfie-light. It has a 4000 mAh high capacity battery built in, which Xiaomi claims to give users 14 hours of video playback, 27 hours of audio, and 8 hours of nonstop gaming with it optimized by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset running eight cores. A portable entertainment machine and a reliable daily driver, the Redmi 5 Plus also comes with either 3 or 4 GB of RAM to run tasks efficiently and 32 or 64 GB ROM for all your storage needs.

    The Redmi 5 Plus (4GB RAM + 64GB storage) has a retail price of PHP 9,990, and will be available on 17 March 2018 at authorized Mi Stores, Lazada, and Shopee.

    Alongside the launch of the new smartphones, Xiaomi also named Grimalkin Corporation as its official distribution partner in the Philippines. The brand has also announced the opening of the second authorized Mi Store in the country. The SM Megamall Mi Store will join the TriNoma branch in bringing in the newest devices from Xiaomi and catering to the needs of consumers.
