Facebook introduces a new feature that lets users create shared photo albums with friends. As many as 50 contributing users (excluding the album creator) can upload a maximum of 200 pictures to the same photo album. If you do the math, that means the shared album can contain up to 10,200 photos—that’s a huge bump from the 1,000-photo limit users previously had for each photo album, which could only be updated by the user who created it.

Here’s how to create a shared album: (via Facebook’s Help Centre)

    1. Go to an album you’ve created
    2. Click Make Shared Album in the top left corner
    3. Choose contributors and select an audience
    4. Click Save

Contributors can not only upload photos to the album, but also tag photos and edit the album.

Album creators have three privacy options: Public, Friends of Contributors, and Contributors Only. They can also determine whether contributors can invite others to join the album.

Bob Baldwin, one of the people who spearheaded the project, told Mashable that Facebook will first roll out the new feature to a small group of English users, and then to the rest of the English users before making it available to users of other languages.
