The country’s largest electricity distribution utility, Meralco, has just announced  a partnership with industry giant Microsoft, in order to give Meralco employees access to Microsoft Office, as well as collaborative tools to help them in the carrying out of their mission to bring power to the people.

The deal, which was reported to be to the tune of about PHP 3.3M, will give, along with Office, access to instant messaging, video messaging, online collaborative tools, and cloud processing and storage to the distribution company.

“We understand the role that technology and innovation play in helping us achieve our goal of delivering cutting-edge solutions and services that add value for our customers; whether it’s secured power supply, a more reliable electric system, or customer solutions that will help them manage their electric bill,” said Marthyn Cuan, Meralco Vice-President & Chief Information Officer. “By enhancing workplace collaboration, we look forward to generating more energy solutions for our customers.  We are committed to our mission of becoming a world-class company that delivers one-of-kind services that enrich the quality of lives of Filipinos.”

“It brings us great honor to work hand-in-hand with Meralco and to be part of Meralco’s journey towards transformation. We are thrilled to see our solutions play a role in ushering a new wave of services that will significantly empower Filipino consumers” said Karrie Ilagan, Country GM for Microsoft Philippines.
