Here’s some interesting news out of Cupertino – Apple is supposedly looking at making a strategic investment in Twitter. The New York Times has reported that Apple is supposedly looking at an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars. Apple’s investment makes sense – social media is fast becoming an important factor in user purchases, which include gadgets and apps. A strategic stake in Twitter will allow it to compete in a more equal footing when compared to its competitors – Google has Google+ and Microsoft has a strategic partnership with Facebook. If the rumors prove to be true, Apple would be in a position to further expand its brand image and brand awareness using Twitter’s accumulated user base, something that should threaten both Google and Microsoft.
