Buoyed by the public’s warm reception of their Eee Pad Transformer Prime (WiFi issues notwithstanding), Asus head honcho Jonney Shih said that he expects his company to ship 3-6 million tablets this coming year, a huge leap from their expected 1.8 million shipments this year. The enigmatic CEO says that consumers find the Transformer Prime better than the iPad because it offers a hardware keyboard, something that the iPad doesn’t have, at least on retail. Shih also confirmed that his company will ship Windows 8 tablets next year when the new OS is finally available, and believes that the new platform will change the way people use tablets, allowing them to consume and create content on the go.
