Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), the number one car company in the country, has once again hit a milestone in the automotive industry by recording a sale of 9,132 units in a single month last May. Selling more than 8,000 units in two consecutive months (March & April), TMP proved that it can go even further by breaching the 9k sales mark last month.
TMP’s sales grew by 47%, as compared to its registered performance last May of 2013 that represented continuous high demand for all its models. The strong sales level was possible because of the strong performance of its best-selling vehicle in the country, the Vios, with recorded sales of 2,080 units.
Moreover, this performance was further strengthened by other top-selling Toyota models such as the mini hatchback Wigo recording 926 units, 18% higher versus the previous month. Meanwhile, the Fortuner also registered high sales growing by 47% versus the previous month with 1, 721 units sold. Likewise, the locally-manufactured Innova, the all-new Corolla Altis and the Hilux are the brand’s other top-selling vehicles that have contributed to this sales milestone. On a year to date basis, Toyota Motor Philippines registers a growth of 35.4%versus the first 5 months of last year with accumulated sales of 40,062 units as of May 2014.
“Having to reach more than 9,000 units in a single month is indeed a breakthrough performance by the company. Our continued thrust of satisfying our customers with the best products and services has indeed bore its fruit as revealed by the numbers. With such results the past months, it likewise inspires us as a Team to continuously find ways in serving our customers even better,” said TMP President Mr. Michinobu Sugata.
He also added that, “Coming from two consecutive months of an 8,000 unit sales level, it overwhelms me that our customers’ support to our brand has led to our record sales last month. Moreover, this is the very first time that any car brand has experienced such high level. Looking at how things are going, we at TMP, expect that this strong demand is expected to continue because of the positive economic outlook and the good reaction from the market with regards to our newly launched models such as the Corolla Altis, Yaris, Innova and the Wigo. Moreover, our best-selling Toyota model, the Vios, continues to be a favourite because of its overall great value and reliable performance.”
