The Smart Live More badge is now set to be unlocked in the virtual world, thanks to the recent partnership between Smart Communications, Inc. and Foursquare.

The Smart Live More badge is the first and only Foursquare partnership badge in the country and the second in Southeast Asia. The spawn of the partnership between Smart and Foursquare was officially launched during the Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball held last May 21 and 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.  Each check-in at the venue allowed Foursquare users to unlock the badge.

Unlocking this badge may prove to be more than just a virtual achievement. Realizing the vast possibilities in new forms of social media, Smart intends to use badges to give away some of discounts and prizes to their worthy subscribers during promos and events. Through its partnership with Foursquare, Smart transcends the usual interactive marketing efforts that are generally characterized by trending topics, likes, reblogs and shares.

Foursquare is a popular location-based social networking application that lets users cite their specific location at certain venues. Each “check-in” allows the user to gain points, and checking in at certain areas or at certain times also gives them the chance to unlock badges. Check-ins can be shared through social media, such as Facebook and Twitter.

The app can be downloaded for free and is available for major mobile platforms such as iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Phone. So no worries for those who don’t have it yet—you’ll still have your chance at the new badge.
