February 28, 2014 brought together the worlds of music, fashion, sports and technology with a single, rugged device; the Casio G-Shock.

The iconic watch has held events all over the world over this last year to commemorate 30 years of global success. Events in Hong Kong, New York, Paris, London and Barcelona were all met with the kind of enthusiasm only an iconic brand such as the G-Shock could generate.

To make the world tour even more special, the father of the G-Shock watch, Kikuo Ibe, was there to share the story of what is now one of the most popular watches in the world. Almost as impressive as his watch is how Ibe, on his first trip to the Philippines, delivered about half his speech in straight Tagalog.

The watch has gone a long way since its inception over 30 years ago. From Kikuo’s first rubber-encased prototype that survived that fateful test, thrown out a second-story window, to the beautifully, elegant, tough MT-G Metal Twisted G Shock, that takes the same G-Shock ruggedness and dresses it up for the boardroom.

Also introduced at the event were Philippine G-Shock ambassadors from the local music, fashion and art scenes. Nix Damn P, Mai Mailan, and Archie Geotina were all there  all there to profess their love for the G-Shock watch and how important it is to them and their busy creative lives.

G-Shock has collaborated with other famous brands and personalities, such as Eminem, and fashion brand Supra, and have even created a special, limited-edition Philippine Edition, Shock The World watch as part of their global Shock the World tour.
