Huawei announced the release of two of their handsets from the Ascend series—the Huawei Ascend P6 and the Huawei Ascend Mate—in the Philippines, in partnership with Globe Telecom.
Huawei Ascend P6
The Huawei Ascend P6 is touted as the world’s slimmest smartphone, measuring at just 6.18mm—as thin as your regular chocolate bar. The P6’s slim physique is attributed to its 4.7-inch HD in-cell touch technology, which is engineered for better colors and enhanced responsiveness (Huawei calls this the “MagicTouch” technology) even when wearing gloves.
With a thin build, being a lightweight device is a sure trait; the P6 weighs in just about 120g. Other P6 features to boot are a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, aAndroid 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, and emotion UI. The P6 prides in its 5MP front-facing camera, which has an auto facial-enhancing capability for that perfect selfie. Furthermore, its 8MP rear-facing BSI camera with f/2.0 aperture and Huawei’s IMAGESmart Software work together to produce stellar shots. It also 1080p Full HD recording capabilities, as well as a 4cm macro view.
Huawei Ascend Mate
A reliable mate in every occasion, the Huawei Ascend Mate was conceptualized by virtue of a survey among selected people on the context of a handset that can be considered a “perfect companion”. This year is all about going big, and Huawei responds to that with their 6.1-inch phablet, In contrast to its large build, the Mate is strikingly 6.55mm thin and lightweight at just 198g. It allows one-hand operation with a screen that has an incredibly thin bezel. Devised for the fashion-forward and movie and gaming aficionados, the Ascend Mate features a 6.1-inch HD display, a 1.5GHz Hi-Silicon quad-core processor and a 4050mAh battery for a longer entertainment experience.
Partnership with Globe
The Ascend P6 is a Globe-exclusive handset. Though it is not exclusive under their network, Globe is also the first telco to carry the Mate.
The Ascend Mate is free at Plan 999 and is also available at Plan 499 with a PHP 200 monthly cash-out over a 24-month lock-in period. The Ascend P6 is available for as low as PHP 999 monthly at Plan 499 with a PHP 500 monthly cash-out or at PHP 1,199 monthly at Plan 999 with PHP 200 monthly cash-out for a 24-month contract period.
With Globe prepaid kits, the Huawei Ascend Mate and the Ascend P6 cost PHP 12,200 and PHP 17,500, respectively.
