After a two-year hiatus, the much awaited art competition that links cultures across the globe finally returns in the country with Red Bull’s Doodle Art 2017.

Red Bull’s  Doodle Art 2017 provides the perfect avenue for art without rules or restrictions. Already a common practice among students and by those who let their imagination go wild, doodling has always been a common platform of expression. Doodle Art 2017 brings together 50 thousand students from over 1000 universities in over 40 countries to bring meaning and celebration to their doodles by providing an exhibit for all to see.

The Philippine edition of the competition was judged by former Doodle Art contestants, Manual “Meow Meow” Liwanag and Details Ink owner, Kara Pangilinan.  After participating in 2014’s finals, Liwanag was given the privilege to intern under Archie Getoina, one of the country’s most respected street artists. Now, Liwanag has been involved in over 15 group exhibits across the country and continues to perfect his craft in the art scene. Likewise, Pangilinan’s works have also been featured in major local publications. Her constant passion and the exposure she received allowed her to boost her career and start her own business, Details Ink. Both judges were students when they joined the competition, and are very thankful to give back to the art community by judging the very event that inspired them to pursue a career in the field of art.

This year’s Regional winner was Rojan Elmo Camua Barcelon who doodled a Manila King in all his glory. Barcelon will represent the country in the third global edition of Red Bull’s Doodle Art. For this year’s competition, all Regional winners will be coached to create a work of in art in 3D. All masterpieces will be exhibited in Red bull’s Global Virtual Gallery, where people around the world can view the doodles in virtual reality.
