    Heads up, comic-lovers!

Komikon, Inc. will be hosting Summer Komikon 2013—another exciting day for comic-lovers to buy their favorite local comics and meet the artists who crafted them. The event takes place next Saturday, April 13, from 10:00am to 7:00pm at the Bayanihan Center in Pasig City.

On its fifth year, Summer Komikon 2013 puts kid-friendly comic creators under the spotlight. These are: Jomike Tejido, the creator of Mikrokosmos and the Foldabots section in K-Zone; Robert Magnuson, the artist of Junior Inquirer’s Shirley’s Pets and OMF’s The Great Duck and Crocodile Race; and Elbert Or, the man behind K-Zone’s Bakemono High and the artist for Lola: A Ghost Story by J. Torres.

Entrance fee is PHP 100, but children under the age of twelve (12) can enter for free until 12:00 noon.

Filipino artists working for the international scene will also be at Summer Komikon 2013 in one area called Komiks Kalye, where they will hold meet-and-greet sessions. Likewise, in Komiks Tiangge, up-and-coming local comic creators from the independent scene will also be there to showcase their work. This year’s line-up of artists includes Carlo Pagulayan, Stephen Segovia, Roy Allan Martinez, Harvey Tolibao, Lui Antonio, Heubert Khan Michael, Dennis Crisostomo and Jomar Bulda.

Tintin Pantoja, the illustrator of the manga Who is AC by Eisner Award Winner Hope Larson, will be signing books at the National Book Store booth from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

Singapore-based artists Otto Fong and C.T. Lim will also be at the event to discuss “Successful Comic Self Publishing in Singapore” and “Current Trends in Southeast Asian Comics.”

Copies of Summer Komikon Tabloid: The First Edition, which provides a list of new comic titles being released, are available at the event.

The winners of the Comic Creation Contest, Character Making Contest, Create Your Own Foldabots Contest and the Titus Pens Create Your Own Seven Notes Cover Contest will be announced, along with the winners of the HBO Game of Thrones: Join the Realm, Create Your Own Family Arms Contest.

Summer Komikon 2013 is presented by Komikon, Inc., in partnership with National Book Store and in cooperation with Lampara Books, Precious Pages Publishing, Black Ink Comics, Comic Odyssey, PSICOM Publishing, Animation Council of the Philippines Inc (ACPI) and Wacom. The event is supported by Titus Pens, Seven Notes, Quantum, Bag-iw Society, UP Lunarock and UP Grail.
