    Epson Philippines Corporation (EPC) presented the Top 24 entries plus the Voter’s Choice winner in the recently concluded Epson Color Imaging Contest 2011.  In cooperation with SM Malls and SM Cyberzone, the top entries will be showcased in a 7-day exhibit at the 4th floor of the SM Annex Event Area at the SM City North EDSA.

    Epson also announced the Top 3 winners who will represent the country in a regional exhibit in Taipei, Taiwan later this month.

    Themed “Beautiful Philippines”, the contest encouraged Filipino photography enthusiasts to explore the beauty of our country from various aspects — human, landscape, nature and architecture.  This year’s CIC is also the first time that Epson utilized a new medium for the submission of entries and announcement of winners: Facebook. As prolific users of the popular social platform, many Filipinos were able to easily share their captured moments via digital images, Thus, Facebook viewers from around the world were treated to amazing photos that featured scenic spots, and colorful cultural snapshots of the Philippines.

    This year’s Epson CIC top prize winner in the Philippines is Randall Cipriano who submitted a photo entitled “Light Unseen”. Taken from the Triboa Bay Mangrove Park in Subic Bay, the photographer shot with a 720 nanometer wavelength filter that cuts off a lot of visible light but captures infrared light. The result was an ethereal take of an already remarkable Philippine scenic spot.

    As the First Prize winner in the national competition, Randall Cipriano won USD1,500 cash prize, an Epson Stylus Photo R1390 and an all-expense-paid holiday to Taipei from 29 February – 3 March 2012 to attend the Epson Color Imaging Contest region-wide photo exhibit. His winning artwork will be displayed with all Top 3 representatives from Indonesia, India and Taiwan.

    Second and third place winners were Don Clavo De Comer for “Fishermen” and Luisito G. Cleofas for “Majestic Mayon Volcano,” respectively.
