LG just launched their latest flagship device, the G2. They’ve decided to drop the “Optimus” monicker, but the spec sheet on this bad boy leaves no doubt that it carries the LG smartphone brand well.

The G2 comes with a 13-megapixel main camera, runs Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and has a 5.2-inch, full HD display. We liked that bit about it, but found ourselves wondering about R&D’s decision to put both the power button and volume rocker on the rear of the device. If they were hoping for people to talk about it, good job, guys. It’s working. It comes with either 16 or 32GB of storage space, but leaves out the microSD expansion slot.

Under the hood, the G2 has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor which is a notch over more or less every other device in the market today. It runs four cores, at a clock speed of 2.26 GHZ, paired with 2GB of RAM and LTE connectivity. It also boasts what has been calles GRAM, or a dedicated amount of memory for graphics processes. This opens up a lot of ground for the device to run when it comes to graphics-intensive games, and opens the door for other applications that require more than your average amount of visually-intensive apps. While the processor might mean more power consumption, the device does come with a larger-than-average battery at 3000 mAh, which should get you through the day.

We’re hoping for a local launch and maybe a demo unit here, so stay tuned. We’ll let you as soon as we have news on either.
