ArchivesPanasonic's new Lumix cameras are ready for the great outdoors

Panasonic is starting the year off strong, with 4 new compact systems to introduce their 2012 lineup. But that’s not all, for they’ve also introduced 2 new systems built specifically for rugged situations.

Featuring a tough design, the TS20 (FT20) pictured on the left is a 16.1-megapixel camera with a 25mm ultrawide lens, that can shoot video at 720p in MP4. It has a 4x optical zoom that can reach up to 8x with the Intelligent Zoom function. It has Panasonic’s patented Intelligent Auto (iA) Mode, and other effects such as Miniature mode and Panoramic mode to enhance your creativity. What makes it ineresting is that it is waterproof up to 5m, freezeproof up to -10 degrees Celsius and shockproof up to 1.5m

If you think that’s impressive, the TS4(FT4) promises to be the best compact partner when you’re out on exploring the great outdoors. It has a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR 28mm lens with a 12.1 megapixel HI-Speed CCD sensor. What makes it stand out though is that it’s waterproof up to 12m, shockproof up to 2m, and freeze proof up to -10 degrees Celsius. Additionally, it also adheres to the IPX8 and IP6X dustproof standard equivalents, ensuring that its airtight body will be protected from invading elements. The lens is also protected via “shaft guide” method, to guarantee that it remains secure even in the most trying conditions.
