First BlackBerry 10 won’t have a physical Qwerty keypad

This may come as bad news to many and good news to some, but according to RIM, the first BlackBerry 10 will not have the trademark physical Qwerty keypad that has made the company’s phones so loved by BlackBerry loyalists. Instead, it will have something similar to what’s found on the iPhone and Galaxy S III, which is a touchscreen Qwerty keyboard.

We have yet to see whether this move will end tragically for the company since the tactile keypad was what made BlackBerry arguably the best smartphone for messaging and emails as well as different from its competitors. On the plus side, BlackBerry will obviously be getting something else in return—a bigger screen—which could actually result in non-BlackBerry users to finally make a switch.
