HTC has just introduced the HTC One mini as a response to the call of smaller flagship-caliber smartphones from fans. The HTC One mini is a 4.3-inch version of its leading Android handset, the HTC One.

The physical design and onboard software of the new smartphone remains unchanged, but the company is aiming to price it “two price points below the HTC One,” while making a few downgrades proceeding to that goal. For one, the One mini is a step down to a 1.4GHz dual-core processor (Snapdragon 400), 1GB of RAM, 16 GB of non-expandable storage, and the loss of NFC and optical image stabilization for the camera—although that’s not to say that the handset does not deliver “exactly the same experience”. The premise is that the compromises are only technical, but not practical.

HTC aims to roll out the One mini worldwide starting in August.
