One of the things that initially had me staring wistfully as my iOS 7-enabled iPad Mini was the very amusing 3D effect brought about by the gentle panning of the wallpaper behind the icons on the home screen. It’s a lot of fun, yes, but it’s quite honestly pretty useless, and probably does more than its fair share of eating up processing power and therefore, battery life. For those of you who may find the effect unnecessary and have tried, with much frustration, poking about and searching, to disable it, don’t fret. It’s in there, just a little hidden.

Fire your device up, and launch the Settings app.

    From there, hit General

    Then Accessibility.

On Accessibility page, in the second group, is the option for Reduced Motion. Tap that,

And slide the switch over to the right.

There you have it. You can bid the violent headaches, dizzyness and vomiting so commonly associated with the parallax effect. We have no real idea why Apple buried the switch so deep in the Setting app, but here it is, if in case you were struggling to find it.
