ASUS Philippines began the year with a bang with the release of its highly anticipated ZenFone Max Plus, the latest iteration of its “Battery King” smartphone lineage.

The Max Plus carries a massive 4,130 mAh battery to power up its full HD, 5.7-inch display with an ultra-wide 18:9 aspect ratio. It runs on an octa-core MT6750 CPU and a Mali T860 GPU, mated to 4 GB of RAM for smooth performance.

Consistent with ASUS’ tradition of giving users excellent photographic capabilities, the ZenFone Max Plus sports a dual camera set up: one is a 16 MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and a 35 mm focal length equivalence; the other is an 8 MP, 120-degree wide-angle camera with a focal length of roughly 16.7 mm. The selfie-shooter is an 8 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and an 85-degree field of view.

The phone is also the first ZenFone to feature face detection unlocking to add to its line of security features that include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The high-capacity battery promises 26 hours of standby, 26 hours of talk time on 3G, up to 21 hours of web browsing via Wi-Fi connection, or up to 13 hours of video playback. It can even double up as a power bank for more energetically-challenged smartphones.

“This is the beginning of all beginnings, and our excitement is at an all-time high with the opportunity to start the year anew with a launch as big as this,” said ASUS Philippines Country Manager for Systems Group George Su.

The ZenFone Max Plus is available at all ASUS stores and kiosks nationwide for PHP 11,995.
