Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) reveals that the newest addition to its range of smart and sustainable vehicles, the IONIQ 6, is now open for reservation at any of the existing certified Hyundai EV dealers. Previewed last April, the said model is offered as the GLS 2WD Long Range variant, for PHP3,798,000. For the exterior color, customers may select among Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Curated Silver Metallic, Gravity Gold Matte, Nocturne Gray Matte, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Digital Green Pearl, and Ultimate Red Metallic. For the interior, the choice is between black or gray.

For the second consecutive year, Hyundai is proud to have achieved another triple crown win at the World Car of the Year Awards. The brand’s latest EV has received recognition as the 2023 EV of the Year, World Car Design of the Year, and overall World Car of the Year.

Filipino owners can be assured of an easy ownership experience. Each purchase comes with a 5-year or 200,000 kilometers vehicle warranty and 8-year or 160,000 kilometers battery warranty. The PMS for 5 years or 75,000 kilometers, whichever comes first, as well as home installation of the standard 7.4 kilowatts AC wall charger, are free of charge.

    Electrified Streamliner

Hyundai’s first mid-size sedan EV, the IONIQ 6 possesses both functional and aesthetic design. The streamlined roof with a single, unbroken curve allows for a sporty profile, while at the same time creating ample interior space.

The front shows off the brand’s signature Parametric Pixel LED lamps on top of the front bumper with active air flaps and air curtains. On the side, flush-type door handles, two-color cladding, and 20-inch alloy wheels with special performance tires have been incorporated.

At the rear, there are matching Parametric Pixel LEDs in the combination lamps, high-mounted stop lamp, rear-reflector, and backup lamp. The rear spoiler has a striking appearance with its combination of see-through materials.

    Mindful Cocoon

The IONIQ 6 has a winglet-shaped dashboard and a bridge-shaped center console for a more comfortable and versatile in-car experience. Since it is built on the brand’s dedicated E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform), it was designed not just for safety but also for space efficiency. The floor structure was made flat so the interior can be maximized, especially on the second-row seats. It also features specialized storage, such as the sliding glove box, wide pocket rooms at the button-less slim doors, and an open-style tray in between the front seats.

The 12.3-inches digital cluster and 12.3-inches infotainment touchscreen have been merged into a single screen for a larger view and easier access. Its new Graphical User Interface, which was recognized by the Red Dot Design Awards, combined with the interactive LED lighting themes, enables a more personalized journey for both the driver and passengers. Unlike other vehicles that switch only in a solid color, the two zones located at the door trims of the IONIQ 6, can be set separately. There are 64 available colors for a total of 4,096 possible combinations.

Instead of the usual Hyundai emblem, there are four LED pixel lights located at the steering wheel. These are complemented with line lights at the dashboard that adapt depending on the movement being taken, such as when stepping out, going on reverse, changing drive modes, and the rest.

    Driver-Centric Safety and Convenience

On top of the improved ergonomics in the layout, the IONIQ 6 has new safety and convenience features that are driver-centric. The brand is introducing the electric-Active Sound Desing or e-ASD. It synchronizes with the driving speed, motor torque, and accelerator pedal and lets users enhance their driving environment with virtual sounds and a 3-tier volume setting.

For added convenience, a Head-Up Display (HUD) has also been integrated unto the windshield. It flashes all the relevant driving information in high definition for easy reading and less distractions. This can also be adjusted based on the driver’s height, driving position and other physical attributes for enhanced comfort. 4-wide angle cameras located at the front, back, and side ensure that every angle is picked up with no blind spots. This can be accessed through the Surround View Monitor (SVM) for smoother and more confident driving and parking.

Those on board are given access to a total of 5 USB ports, including one that supports data transfer for various smart devices as well as a fast wireless charging pad with upgraded power. Apart from Apple Car Play and Android Auto, it supports Bluetooth multi-connection of up to two devices at the same time.

What comes standard across the brand’s vehicles is the trademark safety suite called Hyundai SmartSense. The IONIQ 6 has Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, which helps detect risks in front of you and automatically assists with emergency braking or avoidance steering. Side and Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist warns of obstructions during parking or exiting, then automatically applies emergency braking when no action was made even after the alert.

    Power Electric and Charging System

Just like the IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 6 has 400 volts and 800 volts multi-charging capability, which supports V2L or Vehicle-To-Load that produces about 62kWh of usable power. An outlet at the bottom of the second-row seat has been added. This can be utilized at the same time as the one on outside, by the rear-right side of the door. This comes handy for appliances such as electric kettles and lamps needed on outdoor trips or a hairdryer and laptop on everyday travels.

The IONIQ 6 boasts the brand’s best EV range to date. The 2WD Long Range Model on 20-inch wheels runs for as much as 545 kilometers. Charging from 10% to 80% takes only 18 minutes. Then since it has VESS (Virtual Engine Sound System) the status can be vocally announced to notify the user.

Unique to this model is the EV Performance Tune-Up, which is a function that lets the driver adjust based on their preference. Modifications can be applied on steering force, motor output, accelerator pedal sensitivity, and drive mode.

“There’s really more than what meets the eye with the Hyundai IONIQ 6. It’s ‘Beyond Electric’, providing owners a more tailored and immersive driving experience,” said Dong Wook Lee, HMPH president. “I hope you are excited as we are to be officially welcoming it to the local market. With our IONIQ line, we assure our Filipino customers not just a green solution to their mobility needs but also a worry-free and intelligent one that will fit their lifestyles”.
