The 2024 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) concluded with an intense finale at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand, where Filipino riders showcased resilience and determination despite a challenging season.
Supersports 600cc Category: McKinley Kyle Paz
McKinley Kyle Paz, representing the Yamaha Tekhne Racing Team, delivered a stellar performance in the Supersports 600cc category, finishing 5th in both Race 1 and Race 2. Starting from 11th on the grid, “The Wonderboy” demonstrated consistent form, securing 7th overall in the season standings. The Yamaha Tekhne Racing Team clinched the overall team championship, edging out competitors by 13 points—a well-deserved victory.
UB150 Category: Gian Carlo Mauricio and JD Purino
Gian Carlo Mauricio, riding solo for most of the season for the UMA Racing Yamaha Philippines Team due to the absence of injured April King Mascardo, gave a commendable effort. Despite finishing 11th in Race 1 and a DNF in Race 2, Mauricio’s performance highlighted his determination on the international stage.
JD Purino, stepping in as Mascardo’s substitute, faced a tough debut. Starting from 19th on the grid, he was unable to finish either race. However, Purino displayed adaptability and a strong competitive spirit, offering promise for future performances.
A Promising Future for Yamaha Philippines Racing
The final round reflected the unwavering talent and commitment of Filipino riders to elevate motorsports in the Philippines. Despite challenges, Paz, Mauricio, and Purino upheld their competitive edge and showcased their potential on an international stage.
