Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy Tab S12 Series, bringing updated performance, Galaxy AI tools, larger workspaces, and professional-grade apps to its flagship tablet lineup.
The series includes the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, both with Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, an in-box S Pen, Android 17 with One UI 9, and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor. Samsung positions the new tablets for users balancing productivity, learning, creative work, and entertainment on a single mobile device.
THINNER HARDWARE WITH MORE PERFORMANCE
At 5.1mm, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is Samsung’s thinnest Galaxy Tab to date. It features a 14.6-inch display and weighs 692g for the Wi-Fi model and 695g for the 5G version.
The Galaxy Tab S12+ measures 5.3mm thick and uses a 12.6-inch display with slimmer bezels than its predecessor. It weighs 553g in Wi-Fi configuration and 555g with 5G.
Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S12 Series delivers its most powerful Galaxy Tab performance yet. Compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, the new platform provides up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance, and 17% improved GPU performance, based on Samsung’s testing.
Both models also use a redesigned 3D Vapor Chamber intended to improve heat dissipation during demanding workloads such as video editing and graphics work.
DIMENSITY 9500 AND UP TO 1TB OF STORAGE
Both tablets are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is available with up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of internal storage, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ offers up to 12GB of memory and 512GB storage. Both support microSD cards up to 2TB.
Both devices include 5G and Bluetooth 6.0. The Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, while the Tab S12+ comes with Wi-Fi 6E.
BATTERY LIFE BUILT FOR LONGER WORKDAYS
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra uses an 11,600mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ carries a 10,600mAh unit.
Samsung rates video playback at up to 23 hours on the Ultra and up to 21 hours on the S12+. Both support 45W wired charging and can recharge from zero to 100% in approximately 95 minutes under Samsung’s stated test conditions. The 45W adapter is sold separately.
The tablets and included S Pens also carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, adding another layer of protection for everyday mobile use.
LARGE AMOLED DISPLAYS FOR MULTITASKING
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2960 x 1848 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The S12+ uses a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 2800 x 1752 resolution and the same 120Hz refresh rate.
Both displays reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, while an upgraded Vision Booster dynamically adjusts brightness according to surrounding lighting conditions.
Samsung has also upgraded audio to a four-channel spatial system, which the company says provides twice as many channels as the previous generation.
GALAXY AI MOVES INTO THE WORKSPACE
Running Android 17 with One UI 9, the Tab S12 Series integrates the latest Galaxy AI features into its larger-screen interface.
Multi Window can divide the screen into as many as three sections, allowing users to run a lecture, Samsung Notes, and an AI assistant at the same time. The included S Pen supports annotations and handwritten notes, while Note Assist can summarize longer notes without requiring the user to leave the workspace.
The tablets also include a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, providing expanded access to Gemini features. Gemini Notebook can combine notes, images, recordings, and files in a single workspace and generate summaries, podcasts, and quizzes from the material.
Samsung notes that AI feature availability may vary depending on market, software version, device, language, and other conditions.
S PEN COMES IN THE BOX
Both Galaxy Tab S12 models ship with an ergonomically designed S Pen for handwriting, annotation, sketching, and editing.
Users who want a more conventional workstation can add the optional Pro Keyboard, which features an aluminum finish and a dedicated Galaxy AI Key for accessing compatible AI assistants. The Book Cover Keyboard Slim provides another keyboard option with adjustable viewing angles.
The Galaxy AI Key can be configured for select applications, while users can switch between supported assistants including Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity.
PHOTOSHOP COMES TO GALAXY TAB S12
Samsung is also expanding the software ecosystem around the new tablets.
Adobe Photoshop comes preloaded in the Galaxy Picks folder, marking what Samsung describes as the first time Photoshop for tablets has been preloaded on an Android tablet. The interface has been optimized for tablet use and supports the S Pen.
Photoshop includes AI-powered tools such as AI Assistant, currently in beta, along with Adobe Firefly-powered Generative Fill and Image to Video. Galaxy Tab S12 Series users receive four months of free access to the Photoshop premium mobile plan, including 100 monthly generative credits.
Photoshop for Tablet is also scheduled to launch exclusively through the Galaxy Store for at least six months beginning October 7, 2026.
MORE APPS FOR NOTES, VIDEO, AND CREATIVE WORK
Notability also comes preloaded and includes six months of free access, followed by a 20% discount on the first subscription.
Goodnotes provides one year of free access, while LumaFusion is available at a 66% discount through the Galaxy Store and includes one month of Creator Pass. Notion offers one month of its Plus and Notion AI plan for a newly created workspace.
Clip Studio Paint includes a six-month trial for first-time users and 20% off the first subscription. Other supported tools include MyScript Math, MyScript Notes, Noteshelf 3, and ArcSite for handwritten equations, AI-assisted note organization, digital notebooks, and CAD workflows.
Samsung estimates the combined app benefits and subscription offers at approximately USD600, although actual value and availability vary by market.
