Samsung announces the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

TechnologyTechnology NewsSamsung announces the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

Samsung has just announced their latest flagship smartphones in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The devices, which both pack Exynos chipsets instead of the Snapdragons of the past, have specs that put even the mighty Note 4 to shame. With internal storage up to 128GB and a whopping 3GB of RAM, paired with quad-core 1.5GHZ and quad-core 2.1GHz processors, it’s a monster of a device. Its Mali T7420  gives it a huge advantage over its competition when it comes to mobile gaming and video.

Samsung has also listened to its customers’ woes, and put a premium on design. Metal and glass construction abound, and Gorilla Glass 4 give the phones both a premium feel and really solid abrasion and shatter resistance. A 16 megapixel main camera with OIS, auto-focus and an LED flash means you won’t miss a shot, and a 5 megapixel front snapper makes sure your selfies are top-notch.

The front of the S6 has a large 5.1 inch AMOLED screen, while the S6 Edge’s screen has a screen that’s gently sloped on either side. The slanted edge allows roughly the same functionality as that on the Note Edge, allowing notifications and other developer-usable tricks here and there.

It was also reported that Samsung has cut down on the bloatware, offering an experience that’s just a little closer to stock 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Pricing isn’t out just yet, though Samsung Netherlands is taking pre-orders (the devices are expected in April), and the prices, converted from Euro put the S6 at approximately PHP 34,500 for the S6 and PHP 42,000 for the S6 Edge.
